After I arrived in Chiang Mai last April, I moved into the studio apartment of my friend Joanna who was going for a trip to Kerala, India at that time. She was staying there for one month so I had enough time to find the perfect place for me – and I listed the results of my research in an article covering affordable apartments for Digital Nomads in Chiang Mai.
A few days ago I finally moved into my new home at Nara Apartment. Like the old apartment I rented last year in View Doi, this one is also located in Chiang Mai’s Santhitam area – which to me is this city’s sweet spot since it’s neither too far away from the Nimman area where I usually go to work at Kaweh Café nor the Old City, where I go out most often.
The rent at Nara is THB4500 (~120€) with electricity being charged at THB8/Unit and water at THB25/Unit. My friend Magda Horanin, a graphic designer and illustrator from Poland lived in this very apartment last month and paid a total of THB5062 (~135€) which is a pretty neat deal especially if you consider that this place is brand new.
The only downside is that an apartment at Nara does come with neither bedding, fan nor fridge. They offer a mini fridge for rent priced at THB500/month (~15€) however. Since my fridge at View Doi never really had anything in it anyway, I must say that I don’t really miss it (yet). Let’s see how long that lasts. 🙂
For now I really like it here. I have some trouble with the internet which I hope they can sort out quickly but apart from that, this is really the best value I got out of a ~THB5000 apartment here in Thailand.
